Hi, I have a 2005 Dell Dimension 2400, some of you are probably laughing right about now, as this has been asked a million times. I have a problem with the CD and DVD drives installed, the CD drive is original, and DVD drive is out of another Dell. Both of the drives get power, you put a disc in and they spin up for a second then quit. This all happened after I cleared the NVRAM to get rid of an error. Windows XPOS is half corrupt so I really just need to get the disc drives working to reinstall it. Both of the drives worked fine before this. Now, I don't see them listed in the "My Computer" section where they used to be listed. Yet when I go in to the hardware section where you can see the drivers listed, the CD drive is listed as there and working properly. I have tried both disc drives, by themselves, and same thing. Nada. Any help would be appreciated as I've uninstalled the drivers, installed the drivers and all that and no change. Computer works just fine still, it's an internet only computer. When I run a IDE test in the BIOS, it gives me a "Diskette drive 0 seek failure" but it doesn't give me that anymore after I reseated everything. I installed a new battery for the motherboard, and reseated the HDD itself.
