I got my new computer a couple of days ago, and to make it easier I'll list everything I've done:
1. Set-up Computer
2. It had Windows 7 Pro. Installed.
3. I put the Windows 8.1 install disc in.
4. It took a long while to install but eventually did.
5. I installed Google Chrome and put some files on there.
6. After consideration, I no longer wanted Windows 8.1 and wanted Windows 7 Pro. back as it had a better screen resolution.
7. I tried to fully restore the PC. Deleting all files etc.
8. It froze half way through, so I turned it off.
9. It started the restore again.
10. It fully restored so I had Windows 8.1.
11. I downloaded Google Chrome, Itunes and Autodesk Maya.
12. I discovered to improve the screen resolution, I had to install the latest graphic card driver. My graphics card is Nvidia Quadro K600.
13. It installed, I restarted the computer and the resolution was perfect.
14. I plugged in my graphics tablet and put the install disc in.
15. The driver for the graphics tablet installed.
16. I had to restart it.
17. When it was restarting it froze on a purple screen. So just before I have to sign in.
18. I tried again.
19. Didn't work,so I left it a while but still didn't work.
20. A little bit curious, so I opened the case, which is easily done, but didn't touch or move anything.
21. I tried to do a system refresh.
22. It got to 98% where it said "Setting up a few more things", but my power cut out.
23. I turn the computer on, it loads, says "Welcome" and then says "Setting up a few more things" and it always starts at 2%.
24. Just before it gets to 35, a pop-up comes up and says "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation".
25. I restarted the computer same thing. It's done the exact same thing since.
26. On power up, I've pressed F12, and tested all the hardware. All work fine.
27. On power up, I've pressed F2, and the bios says something like "Cover was removed" and it gives the time and date.
28. On power up, I've pressed F8, by pressing it repeatedly, nothing was of any use.
I think it was from point 14 down that has lead to this problem, but I'm not sure. I really don't know what else to do. I can't remember how to get to the screen that gives me the option to refresh the PC. Is there anyway to restore the PC to factory defaults during the boot up? Is there another solution to this?
