CMOS Checksum Error Inspiron 570

We recently had a power outage where the power came up and down.  Once the power was restored I turned on the computer and displayed an error message (I forget exactly what it said) but there were two options (I think) F2 and F12.

I searched online for that error message and it seemed to indicate an issue that could be resolved by clearing the CMOS.

So I removed the battery, set the clear CMOS jumper, waited 30 min, put the jumper back and put the battery back in.   The message I was seeing was gone but in its place I get this message:

CMOS Checksum Error
Press F2 to Run SETUP
Press F1 to load default values and continue

However, pressing either of the keys does nothing as if the keyboard input is not being registered.

I tried a different keyboard - no change.

I tried a different battery - no change.

I tried using one stick of ram - no change.

There are no beeps on bootup.

What else can I try?

Thanks

robertg
