I decided to hang on to this old workhorse for another year, and as such bought a couple of new RAM chips to help it along. After installing W7, it appears a bit shy of memory.
So, here's what I currently have: Twin processors, with total 4GB ram (4 1GB cards) . Two are on the mother-board in slots #1 & #2, and two are on the riser (second processor) in slots #1 & 2.
I bought 2 (4GB) cards with matching clock speeds, (1333mhz). This will bring the total RAM to 12GB.
After reading the owner's manual, I am a bit confused as to which slots to place the new cards. There are 4 empty slots on the MB, and 4 empty slots on the riser. They are numbered #3 thru 6, same on each board.
The manual does not seem to describe this scenario, but I am probably missing something here and the reason for reaching out to the community.
