I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15, 7547, with the Windows 8.1 Professional operating system. I was assured by a Dell sales person that this computer would have the TPM chip in it (which was a requirement for me purchasing it). When I try to turn on BitLocker, I receive a message that says: "This device can't use a Trusted Platform Module. Your administrator must set the "Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM" option in the "Require additional authentication at startup" policy for OS volumes".
Does anyone know why I'm receiving this message? Does this computer really not have the TPM chip?
