WiFi security question

I set up a new WiFi network and used the router software to create an SSID and password for WPA2-Personal security with AES encryption

Both laptops run Win 8.1 Pro and connect to the network but...

On an Alienware system, the Network & Sharing Center screen shows the SSID and under that it says "private network". When I do the same thing on the Inspiron, it shows the right SSID but it says "public network".

If I go to the WiFi Status>Security tab on the Inspiron, it says WPA2-Personal with AES encryption with the right password is  listed.  So why does the Network & Sharing Center screen on this PC say "public"? [*-)]

If I look at the list of WiFi networks available using Charms bar>Settings>Networks, my SSID isn't marked as being public, though I do see some others that are.

So why are these 2 PCs reporting the same network differently and how can I be sure the Inspiron is connecting through WPA2??

Thanks!
