Dell users should be aware that I have recieved several telephone calls at home from people claiming to be "Dell tech support," calling to tell me my computer is downloading files that are corrupting it or there is some virus infection. One of the callers gave me an official sounding "employee ID," and when I called the real tech support, they said it was bogus. These men have Indian or Pakistani accents. They attempt to convince me to connect my browser to a third party website that will allow me to grant them remote administrator access.
I have been called four times within the last month. I have contacte my local FBI office and reported these calls, but this appears to be a new scam. The Dell community should be aware this is happening.
