Dell Demension 5150/E510, using SMBIOSBIOS version A04 (02/03/06). There are two bootable window7 systems, the first on drive F: and the second on Drive C:. They can be booted via the work around, by pressing F2 when powering on. Then boot menu is displayed and either system can be selected to boot. The problem is when powering on and F2 is not depressed, the display blanks, except at the bottom “diskette boot failure’ is displayed and the hardware doesn’t boot.
It appears the somehow the bios or the mother board was written to, in order to cause this problem. It has nothing to do with the OS. I say this because every works fine if I use the work around. Do you concur? Does anyone have a fix?
