I have a 3 year old Dell 660s that has issues powering on. It is running Windows 8.1. If I do a restart from Windows, there are no problems. The issues come with a full shutdown.
After a full shutdown, the system will not *usually* power back on. Sometimes it will, but not usually. If I unplug the power cord and then hold down the power button until the green light on the back of the desktop goes out, it will usually restart. Sometimes I have to do this a couple of times. I have noticed a very light clicking noise when holding down the power button similar to an ignition on a gas grill, but much quieter. This may be normal but I did notice it. It stops when the green light goes out.
I don't know if this is the power supply, switch or motherboard. Any ideas or further troubleshooting steps I should take? It seemed to happen sporadically at first but now occurs every time the system is fully shutdown.
