I have a Dell Inspiron 3847 desktop with Windows 8.1 x64. I've had this computer since Feb 2014. Just recently, I noticed two new disk drives being displayed in File Explorer; WINRETOOLS (X) and PBR Image (Y). I believe these are the recovery partitions. I have no idea why these two partitions would suddenly appear as drive with letters attached. Everything is working fine but I'm curious if (1) Dell assigns drive letters transparently and (2) if so, why did they choose to appear 14 months after purchase.
