I have a Dell XPS 8500 that I purchased in January of 2013 and of course is now out of warranty. I haven't had too many issues with the pc but last week I was in the process of copying some video files from the SD card that was in the card reader onto the hard drive. My wife told me that supper was ready so I left the system to finish copying the large video files to the HDD and ate with my family.
After we finished eating, I went back into the office to discover that my computer was turned off. I tried to turn it back on and got no response from it at all. I held the power button down and still nothing. After unplugging all peripherals I still did not get any response. I unplugged the power cord that goes into the power supply and the green led on the back of that flickered as I unplugged and plugged that in so I thought I had my issue properly diagnosed as a PSU failure. I ordered a replacement PSU and installed that today but I am still not getting any response from the computer when trying to boot it up. I have all of the cords from the PSU connected properly to the hard drive and the dvd drive and the 24 pin connector to the motherboard as well as the 4 pin connection as well.
The ONLY response I get when trying to power the computer on is that the fan in the PSU and the fan on the back of the case surge momentarily and go back to a stop. They don't even make a half of a revolution and that is all I get.
Any suggestions would be wonderful! I am wondering if it is a motherboard issue and if so, where to get a replacement motherboard. And if it isn't the mobo, what else it could be.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
