Precision 380 No Bootable Device Found

Talk about frustrating. My friend bought a Precision 380 for $30, only catch being that it has no hard drive. 2gb of memory, P4, pretty decent rig for what he wants to do. Anyways, we went and bought a new Western Digital Caviar Green hard drive, hooked it up, BIOS recognizes it in SATA 0 position, great. I put in an WinXP SP2 disk, get the message "No bootable devices found." Thinking the boot order was wrong, I went into BIOS and changed it up, still the same message. I get a different copy of the SP2 disk, still the same. Put in a Windows 7 disk, nothing. Used this guide to create an XP install on a flash drive, plugged in and turned on, same "No bootable devices found" message. Am I completely overlooking something here?
