Nigel from "Itec Alert" called claiming my Windows PC is sending out calls for help with a malware infection. He knew my name and address and, obviously, had my phone number.
Kept pressing him for details to see if he had any of my Dell info, but all he would say is "your Windows PC". When I said there are several of them here, he said the one with "mac address" 192.25.21.27, which looks to be an IP address, not a mac address. That's not the IP for any of my systems.
Got him to give me a phone number so I could call back later, and promptly filed a complaint with F-T-C against that number. [A]
