Hello There,
I am writing this on my 14 year-old computer running XP. I am 68 and decided last year to wipe out some retirement savings and get a top of the line computer that would last me until after I am underground. My Dell XPS 8700 with some Solid State memory died 2 days ago after slightly more than 1 year of gentle use. There is no warranty. When turned on, the computer turns off within 2 seconds, then turns on, then off, ad nauseum. According to Dell Support, the motherboard is shot. Although I bought the computer and monitor from Dell Canada for more than $1850 there seems to be no way to order a new motherboard (let alone know how much one would cost) to be sent here so that a local computer store can install it. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
