I have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop running Windows 7. While running Photoshop Elements the computer screen goes black, reboots, & I get a line of computer gibberish. I turn off the computer restarted it and got 4 audible beeps. Everything I read said it was memory modules that were loose and needed to be reseated. Did that. Didn't help. I have four sticks of memory. This is the result of loosening each stick one at a time and restarting the computer...
Bank 1. 4 beeps
Bank 2. Gibberish Error message
Bank 3 & 4. 4 beeps
Switched banks 2 and 4...
Bank 1. Gibberish Error message
Banks 2, 3, 4. 4 beeps
Took the one memory module that seem to be the issue to a computer repair shop and had him check it. It was good. His suggestions were to flash the bios if there was an upgrade, check the video card, and if that wasn't it it was probably the memory slot which would require a new motherboard.
I can get into the BIOS system information and I can change the boot sequence. If I were to put the BIOS update on a bootable USB stick would that even work? There is an update. But I haven't made any hardware changes to my system so I'm not sure that the BIOS is even a possible culprit.
Also, I ran the Dell diagnostic test and the advanced memory test and everything passed... ran it twice.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
Monica
