Sata 3 PCIe x1

Hi,

Optiplex GX620 Mini Tower (Bios A11), has onboard SATA 2 sockets.

I installed an SSD drive for the System (on C: partition),  High Speed Software (such as Flight Sim 2004 with a Google Earth link) (on D:) and Temp files (such as Pagefile, Temp Folder, etc) (on E: partition). All working OK, running at 3Gb/s on SATA 2, socket 0.

I'm looking at installing a PCIe x1 to SATA 3 converter card and these seem to be mostly PCIe v2 or 2.2. There's a couple available running on PCIe v1.0 but I'm not sure if these will drop to SATA 2 or not.

Does anyone know for sure if my board is PCIe v2 or v1.0a?

If it's v1.0a then will the SATA card plugged intoa x1 v1.0a will give me SATA 3 or will it revert to SATA 2?

I have an NVidea Quadro in the PCIe x16 slot (also working OK and currently running three screens) so I can't use that slot.

Regards

Peter
