Last fall I bought a Dell XPS 8700 which came with a 256G SSD- a Samsung PM830 mSATA. It's working fine, but I've had many problems with MS updates- so now I'm so freaked out - traumatized by that, that I intend to install a new SSD, then proceed with trying to install all the updates.
I did managed to recover from a messed up system thanks to Acronis True Image backup- but even running that freaked me out- though it worked perfectly because if it didn't- I'd have a big loss of all my business files.
So, when I install the new SSD, I'll use Acronis to recover everything to the new drive.
What I'm wondering is- is there any particular reason I should buy another Samsung SSD? I have in the past purchased an SSD from Crucial- which I used to replace a HHD, successfully. I see that the same Samsung drive isn't available from my searching so far, as they have newer models.
I see that BestBuy has some low cost SSD- forgot the brand, but maybe there not as good? I know that Samsung has a great reputation. I don't need the fastest SSD- just one that is dependable. And, yes, I'll look around on the net, but I thought I'd ask in a Dell forum.
thanks,
Joe
