The PowerWare ransomware is written completely in the Windows PowerShell scripting language...being distributed to victims via phishing emails containing Word documents with malicious macros.

You probably want to open both Word and Excel and go to their Tools>Macro>Security menus to set the highest level of macro security that works for you.
And don't open attachments, even if it's from somebody you know, without confirming who sent it and why. [;)]
