I have an Inspiron 530, circa 2007/2008.
All of a sudden, the USB ports quit working. They're dead from the moment the power button is pressed. Front, rear, doesn't matter. Various mice and keyboards, no difference. Without a PS2 keyboard port, this means no keyboard, no BIOS access, nothing except for watching Windows load.
1: What's the prognosis? Dead motherboard? It's a Foxconn G33M02. Are there different versions of the G33M02 or should they all work? I have an E4500 Dore 2 Duo processor
2: What can cause this? I have a powered USB hub with several external drives plugged in, as well as an external USB drive plugged in directly. Other than that it's just the keyboard & mouse. Is it possible that one of those devices fried the motherboard in some way?
Thanks!
Dave
