I have an Inspiron 3647 with Windows 8.1. Within the last few days, my option to connect to the internet via the ethernet adapter has disappeared. I can no longer locate it in the device manager and running diagnostic test does not discover anything. I only get a solid orange line where the ethernet cable plugs in.
I have run the automated support from Dell but when I install the designated driver for the ethernet, I get a message about it being in "deep sleep" and a cable needs to be plugged in.
Are there potential next steps for turning the adapter back on?
