To anyone who has an XPS 2710 with this black screen of death from Windows 10 or stuck at the Dell screen on startup with no ability to go into the bios I have an idea. If I'm stuck with a broken XPS getting no support from Dell I'd like to just turn the 2710 into a monitor. The high resolution display was the reason I bought this system. As far as I know the display is still good.
Technically all we need to do is take the cable coming from the monitor to the motherboard and either get an adapter or find another motherboard that accepts the connection. My guess it has to be some type of Display Port because I don't believe HDMI or DVI can pump that native resolution?
I'll strip out what won't work and build my own system. The starting point though is making sure the monitor can be used.
Any thoughts?
