Inspiron 3050: HDMI to DVI splitter / Dual Dell Monitor setup

Hello,

I just got an Inspiron 3050... I'm trying to drive two Dell monitors via the DVI input. I have a HDMI to DVI splitter to hook up the two monitors.

The monitors are correctly set to DVI input, but when I turn on the Inspiron 3050 I'm not getting any output to either monitors.

Can someone answer the following questions:

1) Do I need to hook up one via HDMI first, go through the Windows setup before I can drive both monitors?

2) Is the onboard video board capable of driving two monitors via the HDMI to DVI splitter?
