I had a question on the number of SATA slots available on the Inspiron 535S
I opened the case yesterday to try and add a new Toshiba SATA HDD. Then I realized that the motherboard has 4 slots numbered 0-3. The SATA Adapter is only there at 2 of the slots (0 and 1). A Blue adapter on 0 that goes to the older HDD, a Black Adapter on 1 that goes to the DVD Drive.
The numbering is a bit odd that it is listed 0,2,1,3 on the motherboard
There is a spare power cable hanging below the HDD Power Cable.
So in essence I am left in the lurch.
a) Either I have to go and get SATA slot pins enabled on 0 and 2 on the Motherboard
b) Or swap the HDD and put in the newer HDD and reinstall the OS onto it. This would leave the older 300 GB drive unused.
I am inclined towards (b) just so that I can recover the investment on the new Toshiba 1TB Drive
Anyone else has better thoughts on the situation?
